There lies the box which holds the secret of the days gone by
young and naive I would pour my heart out
to say I Love You without holding anything back
etched in scented rose-colored stationeries once
they now have turned somewhat brown.
I would write you all night
I would wait all month
I would almost fall from the stairs
when the mailman comes.
Like cherub from the sky
our winged love soared high
countless times I read those letters
tucked under my pillow to meet you in my dreams.
Love has slipped away
with the passing of time
but your love letters are still here.
Reading them back, my heart no longer skips a beat
they merely remind me that I was once loved by you
and that, I was able to love someone like you
that as much.
On the day my soul is set free,
burn to ashes, these letters, too, shall be.
There lies the box which holds the secrets of my heart.

Boy did that take me back! I didn't bother to keep the letters. They are long gone.... I love what you did with this topic!
